Hi and thank you for posting us at Medimetry.Your child's diet,activity level and environment affect urinary frequency.At 3 years a child may pass urine almost 10-12 times a day but it may vary depending on the factors mentioned above by me.Passing less urine can be due to severe dehydration and can be an indication of poor kidney function.If a child is suffering from vomiting or diarrhoea that too can cause fluid losses and decreased urine output.If your child is otherwise asymptomatic and taking liquids fluids adequately do not worry. If you feel child is sick not accepting liquids or fluids and has decreased urine output it is best to get the child examined by a doctor.In that case he may need a clinical examination and tests like urine examination,kidney function tests etc depending on the detailed history and clinical examination findings.I hope this information helps you.Do write back to us with more queries Best wishes and take care!
