Watery vaginal discharge during pregnancy.

Hi, I am now in my 33th week of pregnancy. Last week I had the problem of watery vaginal discharge.

So I went to hospital. They examined me and told that it was water discharge and kept me under observation for 4 days.

It stopped and doctor told me that it’s only mucus discharge and nothing to worry about.

They were afraid of premature delivery and they gave me steroid injection for baby’ s lungs development and antibiotics for 5 days.

I am afraid of antibiotics. Should I take them?

  1. Hello Dear,

Thank you for writing to us at MediMetry.
Sometimes it is mild vaginal infection leading to watery discharge and is fine with treatment. It is worrisome if it is due to leak of amniotic fluid for which you were admitted and observed.
As you have been told to take antibiotics, you should not worry about it and take them properly. They help to prevent infection of vagina as well as fetus and it's membranes. Steroids are given whenever preterm delivery is expected. So don't worry and take adequate rest and follow treatment as prescribed.
