Daughter suffering from meningitis.

Hello Doctor, My daughter is going to be 4 in October. She was suffering from meningitis/septicemia (as diagnosed by doctors) since she was 3 months.

She was on antibiotics and EEG.She had the seizure disorder.

She can not speak yet but she can walk. she is not like a normal child.

Her hearing is good. I give her dilentin every morning and evening.

Is there any chance of getting cured and behaving like a normal baby?

Please suggest.

  1. Hello Dear,

Thank you for writing to us at MediMetry.
As your daughter suffered with meningitis in early infancy, which is a serious infection and can have long term neurological sequel in some patients depending on severity and treatment of infection. So your child is now having these sequel and these are permanent. You should consult pediatric neurologist. Your child requires good physiotherapy, multi-sensory stimulation and vocational training.

Hope this answers your query. Feel free to write back with follow-up questions.
