high blood sugar level during pregnancy, what to do?

Hello doctor, I am 32 week pregnant and so worried. Always my fasting sugar level reading is between 150-180 but my pp and random blood sugar level reading is between 100-120. I don’t know what happened with me. What should I do?

  1. Hello Dear,

Thank you for writing to us at MediMetry.
You are a diabetic and need treatment. Get complete sugar profile done as FBS, 2hr post breakfast, pre lunch, 2hr post lunch, pre dinner, 2 hr post dinner and RBS at 3am.
Get a diabetic diet chart made for you from a dietician ( You can also refer to: http://medimetry.com/a/diet-chart-for-diabetic/). Do moderate activity or walk or swimming etc to burn calories.
As per your levels of blood sugar, oral tabs or insulin will be given. If you were not diabetic before, this is gestational diabetes ( What is this? Read this article to understand it better: http://medimetry.com/2015/08/17/gestational-diabetes-during-pregnancy/) and will get controlled mostly without drugs after delivery. You are at risk of developing diabetes later though.
Hope this answers your query. Feel free to write back to us with follow-up questions.
