  1. Hello Dear, Welcome to Medimetry. Hypothyroidism leads to weight gain problems. To reduce weight, you need to increase your basal metabolic rate (BMR). BMR can be increased by increasing the intake of proteins in your diet. Include protein rich foods like lentils, pulses, sprouts, milk and milk products like buttermilk, curd, eggs. Nuts are a good source of protein but also high in energy, so go ahead with a minimal amount of roughly 4-5 nuts in your meals. Add sesame seeds or flaxseeds to improve the fiber value of the meal. Eat good amount of raw vegetables in the form of salad. You can include fish or chicken once or twice on weekly basis. Avoid all refined based foods, refined bread, bakery foods, excessive sugars, sweets, deep fried foods, meat, fruit juices. A vegetarian diet will give you good fiber and minimal cholesterol. Hope you find this helpful. Feel free to contact in case of any more queries.
