Hello, I am 29 weeks pregnant women. I want to know about Food in pregnancy. I am going to be a mother first time. Please tell me is it necessary to take oily food specially ghee (ladoo,barfi etc) now up to nine months?

    It is not at all necessary to take all these. But if you enjoy having them then you should take but in control. It is more important to have a balanced diet with proteins, carbohydrates and some fat. Do your share of physical activity also to stay fit and for healthy pregnancy.

    At this stage of pregnancy, proper growth and increase in baby’s size occurs. Hence, protein rich diet is required. Some fat content is required but not in excess as it will add to your weight instead of baby’s. Average calorie intake of a pregnant woman should increase by 400-600 kcal in third trimester. If you eat two sweets like ladoo, barfi, these will compensate for your increased demand of energy. Instead try to add calories from a good protein rich diet.
