Difference between stomach cramps and delivery cramps

I am 36 weeks pregnant with second child. My first baby happened in 36 weeks itself and was born healthy. I am worried that I will again have a premature delivery.

I have been told that it could now happen anytime. So, how will I know the difference between regular stomach cramps or some serious cramps which can cause premature delivery?

I am worried that I will not realize the difference and will be delayed in reaching the hospital.

  1. There are high chances that during this pregnancy also you will have pre-term labour. But it is better to consult your doctor as certain injections might be required if there are high chances of pre-mature delivery. So consult your gynecologist about this.
Regarding the difference between regular stomach cramps and true labor pain is that, the regular stomach pain will of irregular intensity, it will decrease in between or heal on its own in sometime. Also there will be no tightening of uterus or water leakage or hardening or abdominal walls.
While in case of labor cramps, you will experience constantly increasing pain, along with hardening of abdominal walls, tightening of uterus and leakage of water. So if all the criteria fit into the second category, you are experiencing labor and you should head to the hospital.
But if you are experiencing even the first category of pain, at this stage of pregnancy then you should immediately consult your gynecologist.
