Pregnancy Problem. Diabetic, Trisomy 21 high risk, 31 weeks pregnant.

Hi, I am 31 years old, and having pregnancy problem. I am 31 weeks pregnant after 10 years of married life. It is a normal pregnancy this time. Earlier I have had 3 abortions. I had to abort because baby did not get heart beat in all the cases. I am diabetic, my diabetes is under control and I am taking insulin twice a day. My trisomy 21 came back high risk but my doctor told me not to worry. Is everything all right? Can I have a normal and healthy baby? I am very worried as I have waited very long for this baby.

  1. Hello Dear,

Thank you for writing to us at MediMetry.
First you should not worry much. I understand it's not easy for you but if your ultrasound shows no congenital malformations of baby along with everything else as normal, then you should not worry. Get a fetal echo and Doppler ultrasound done which will again be helpful in confirming the same. If your doctor has assured you that means she or he feels that the things are fine. So leave worries and stay cool and de-stress yourself.

  2. Hello Dear,

Thank you for writing to us at MediMetry.
Your this pregnancy is a precious pregnancy. As per the details shared by you, I understand your earlier 3 abortions were during the early stages of pregnancy, so you need not worry as it will not affect this pregnancy.
But make sure you strictly follow your insulin dosage and also monitor blood sugar regularly to stay safe off any pregnancy troubles.
Rest, you need to relax and stay calm. Focus on your health and everything will be alright.
