5th month of pregnancy, haven’ t felt any baby movement yet. What to do?

I am in the second week of 5th month of pregnancy. Yet i haven’t felt any baby movement. I have done my ultra sound as well, having anterior placenta and everything is fine. Please tell me when can I feel movements in the womb?

  1. Hello Dear,

Thank you for writing to us at MediMetry.

Pregnant women start perceiving baby movements (also called Pregnancy Quickening) in first pregnancy after 20 week and after 18 weeks in secundigravida (Second pregnancy). The Patterns or timings of movement can vary from time to time but there should be at least 15-20 baby movements in 24 hours. Don't worry if you are not perceiving any movements, just take your left lateral position and lie down for half an hour after meals and then count, it should be 5-6 times in that half an hour and repeat it after meals thrice a day.

Moreover, The baby moves around quite a bit, and may respond to loud noises from the outside world, such as music. You may not feel these movements yet, especially if this is your first pregnancy. If you do, they'll probably feel like a soft fluttering or rolling sensation.

Hope this answers your query. Feel free to write back to us with follow-up questions.
