Your child must have received whole cell DTP vaccine which mostly causes local reaction like swelling or lump, pain, redness and warmth at injection site. Initially local reaction is managed with cold compression and paracetamol. After first 2-3 days, other things subsides except a hard lump which can be felt for few weeks. This does not require any specific treatment and gradually decrease in size and dissolves on its own.
