All my baby’s long bones are coming short. Will be baby be born short?

My baby’s all long bones are coming 3-4 short since 29 weeks. I am 5 feet while my husband is 5’6. My double marker came negative. Plus I went for genetic counselling where they ruled out Down’s. Does this mean my baby will be dwarf  or a short baby?

  1. Hello Dear,

Thank you for writing to us at MediMetry.

Constitution of parents do affect the baby through genes. You can't change it if your baby is short in height due to this. Things to be ensured are as done in your case any associated genetic disorder, wrong dates, IUGR and any other malformations.
You take care of your nutrition, healthy lifestyle during pregnancy and regular follow up.
If it's short limbs, baby can be short but labeling your baby as a dwarf would not be wise without follow up.

Hope this answers your query. Feel free to write back to us with follow-up questions.
